Two down (at least) one to go

A few weeks ago the world lost one of the last renowned terrorists in the western hemisphere when Orlando Bosch died of natural causes at the age of 83 in a Miami hospital. Bosch was a known criminal who’s adventures in the dirty deeds game play included the bombing of a Polish ship in the late 60´s off the coasts of the US and then later on in 1976 the bombing of Cubana Flight 455 off the Coasts of Barbados where all 73 passengers on board perished.

Orlando Bosch, one of the few photographs taken of the man in recent years.

Bosch was tried and sentenced in the US for lets say, pecatta minuta, and left prison early. He then returned to the US in the 80´s. In those days Ileana Ros-Lehtienen was campaign head for Jeb Bush while he ran for his first term for Governor of the State of Florida. It is suspected or maybe a proven fact that the now Chairman for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, then pulled a quid pro quo a la Hannibal Lecter and “suggested” to the not yet governor then, that his father the very much so, president of the United States George HW Bush, pardon Mr. Bosch hence allowing him to reside in the US.

President Bush did so; Bosch lived out his remaining years in Miami pretty much happily ever after.

Whether it happened five years ago or whether it happened two weeks ago or even yesterday for all that matter, Osama bin Laden is no longer part of neither picture nor part of the excuse. I am not a lawyer nor a specialist in international relations so I really won’t comment on the illegalities of having performed a summary execution against someone, nor will I share my thoughts on why I believe it would have been better to judge him in an international court. He is gone and that part of the action flick is over.

But –isn’t there just always one? – There is still one element at large and ironically he is known in these parts precisely as the Osama bin Laden of Latin America. Because while Dr Orlando Bosch was carrying on his deathly antics against all peoples interested in bettering relations with Cuba or helping Cuba out in any way, Luis Posada Carriles was calling the shots from the sidelines and of course getting in on a piece of the action too.

Where is Posada Carriles? Hiding out in a cave somewhere? Lurking in dark corners in the middle of the night? Nope, he is free as a bird in Miami no less!

Luis Posada Carriles and his defense team celebrating victory after the verdict.

Luis Posada Carriles, a man who is as guilty of mass murder as Osama ever was, Posada who is a veteran in the dirty deeds department of not only the CIA but the secret services of many Latin American nations during fascist criminal totalitarian puppet dictatorships is off on illegal immigration charges and get this: lying under oath!

I wonder what Sacco and Vanzettis lawyers would have to say about this one?

  1. In the US , and especially US News, one missing the history behind the events. You are about to present that in your writings. THANK YOU. I am hungry for more history behind events and so I wish more facts and information all the time…… because the way you write it is easy to read and understand and connect the lines..
